On releasing the number she confessed that she wrote this number when she was in France. She said, “Weirdly enough, ended up writing this song in France, and I think that that probably had a little bit of inspiration to how the song ended up feeling.” This number’s girly pop summer vibes have resonated with many and continue to grow its fan base steadily. She shared “It just had that excitement and that energy of almost kind of traveling the world,” evidently her audience also gathered the vibe she has been projecting in the number, “Say you can’t sleep, baby I know, that’s that me, espresso.”

She said, “I think for me, there was something really exciting about the fact that there was so much personality throughout the entire song because those are the ones that are really, really fun to sing live with a crowd. Those are the ones that people, I think when they don’t know my music or who I am or anything, they can just tune in to a single song and kind of leave with a better idea of my sense of humor.”

Revealing the motto of the number she said, “The song is kind of about seeing femininity as your super power, and embracing the confidence of being that bitch.” “Since the day I heard the song, I saw a beach atmosphere—and more specifically this kind of old school [and] modern environment,” she added. “[I wanted to capture] the playfulness that I like to use throughout all of my videos. I also just wanted a pool car, to be frank,” she added.

She said, “I wanted to pull from old and new, I wanted it to feel fresh but timeless,” Carpenter said, “Lots of colors and cool contrasts. The coloring of the video was super important to me; I love Wes Anderson. The outfits are as hot and fun as you can be if you’re a girl on a beach!” in an interview. She also commented on her flawless look, “I loved this brown Viktor & Rolf couture look,” she continued, “I’m not really a bathing suit girl in real life, so I wanted to find the right one and this was that.”
