The OG release was her first Tejano album to reach the summit of Top Latin Albums. And not just that, the album also had been a part of the top 10 on Top Album Sales. It re-entered the top 10 on Top Latin Albums and Regional Mexican Albums charts also. Her fans took it upon themselves to celebrate this masterpiece to celebrate the 30th anniversary of this momentous release. ‘Amor Prohibido’ was the most popular release of her career and the remastered version of this album reminded people why it was the most popular release of that time.

This latest rendition of this album debuted on the No. 1 spot on Billboards Vinyl Albums. The album was released by Capitol Latin/UMLE. This is the second Latin release to debut on the pinnacle of this list in 2024. The first one was Kali Uchis’ Orquídeas in January. This album has 10 incredible remastered numbers, starting with the title track ‘Amor Prohibido’, the album also has ‘No Me Queda Más’, ‘Cobarde’, ‘Fotos y Recuerdos’, ‘El Chico Del Apartamento 512’, ‘Bidi Bidi Bom Bom’, ‘Techno Cumbia’, ‘Tus Desprecios’, ‘Si Una Vez’, and ‘Ya No’.

It was the fastest-selling album in 1995 and it is now has become the No. 1 on Vinyl Albums. This is the second time in the last 13 years for the singer to receive this position. ‘Amor Prohibido’ starts with 10,000 vinyl copies sold in the U.S. and this has marked how greatly she can influence music lovers even after all these years. Last week, it sold 6,000 copies. Her previous release, ‘Ones’ re-entered the no. 1 spot back in 2016 after 13/14 years of its release. This chart was introduced in 2011 and it took her 2002 album only a few years to make it to this prestigious chart, after being a soaring hit back then.

In 1994 when ‘Amor Prohibido’ became the first Tejano album to reach the pinnacle on Top Latin Albums, it stayed on that spot for over 20 weeks. After that, Gloria Estefan’s Mi Tierra rules this position for 58 weeks between the span of 1993 July and 1994 June. The most popular releases were ‘Amor Prohibido’, ‘No Me Queda Más’, and ‘Bidi Bidi Bom Bom’.
