Versatile music artist Sheryl Crow is well aware of the fact that her 2019 album was her last music project. It is not like she wants to quit recording and songwriting but the artist feels like the traditional album format is not really great for captivating the modern listeners who like to cherry-pick songs for playlists.
Crow is one of the most successful music artists in the industry who boasts of selling more than 50 million albums since 1993. her first breakthrough was “Tuesday Night Music Club,” and soon this singer started reigning in the industry with hit tracks like “If It Makes You Happy,” “All I Wanna Do,” “Strong Enough,” and the list goes on.
She has won a total of 9 Grammy Awards and 19 songs from her musical collection made it to the top of Billboard Hot 100. The concerns regarding the music industry coming from an artist like Crow surely mean a lot and questions about the future. However, the singer is ready to take more risks as she is all set to drop her 12th studio album named ‘Evolution’. The singer has already teased this music project with the release of the leading track “Alarm Clock,” offering an enticing blend of pop-funk.
In a recent video, the singer could be seen expressing her concerns regarding AI and the crucial reasons why artificial intelligence in music terrifies her. She also shared how age is just a number as this 62-year-old legendary music artist is always ready to drop music projects in the coming days.
The rockstar also shared her experience of performing with Stevie Nicks as well as new-age pop stars such as Olivia Rodrigo. However, the artist was more keen to perform with Willie Nelson. She said, “My whole night revolved around getting to sing with Willie, who is probably one of my favorite people I’ve ever known.”
When it comes to the latest technology and its influence, Crow is quite astonished and afraid of the modern AIs and their use in music. She expressed how a young songwriter used John Mayer’s voice with AI and it ‘terrified’ her. She explained, “ This is what songwriters are growing up with, even writing lyrics and using ChatGPT. I’m an older artist and I’m concerned about the evolution of humanity.”
When the singer was asked whether she has reached that point where “to be free means learning not to care”, she gracefully answered, “ If caring is feeling and we won’t allow ourselves to feel, then how do we care?” Truly, Sheryl Crow is a living legend and the modern gen needs to learn a lot from her.
