Before this, another eminent singer of the Indian music industry, Arijit Singh wrote and sang ‘Aar Kobey’ which translates to ‘If not now then when?’ This song has become the anthem of the uncountable protests that have been going on in the city since the horrific incident. The main message of the song roughly translates to when the justice will be served if not now. Now is the prime time to raise our voices against the criminals and the inhumane activities. The song emerged as an anthem of sorts amid massive protests over the doctor’s rape-murder.

The concert which drew a large crowd went viral on the social media platforms. Before Shreya started her new song, she appealed to her audience not to clap as a gesture of appreciation but rather take a pause and reflect on the deeper meaning of the lyrics. As she finished her track, the whole stadium burst into a chant and shout, screaming ‘We Want Justice’. This kind of gesture done by eminent personalities of the society shows how much the RG Kar rape and murder case has affected the people and on how many levels it has affected.

People like Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal are the most well-known representatives of the Indian society to the outer world and this kind of contribution from their parts should be make the criminals and the people helping the criminals understand how enraged the common people are about this incident. The leader of the ruling party, Kunal Ghosh praised Ghoshal and wrote on X, ‘She is concerned about RG Kar like all of us. She postponed her program. She talked about women’s safety all over India and the world. Protest is necessary against rape and murder’.
