Perhaps, it is time for music lovers to raise their voices against political influence on the music industry as Sonu Nigam went through a serious incident in Mumbai. The singer got manhandled by a bunch of people after the show and his aide got injured during the hackle.
The incident took place last night at a music festival in Chembur, Mumbai around 11 pm when the fans were crowding for selfies. Sonu was manhandled and one of the aides was thrown off the stage while he was trying to help the singer. The aide suffered minor injuries and was discharged after basic treatment from a nearby hospital.
It is a quite dark moment for the music industry as well as music lovers when their favorite singer is being harassed by goons. Sonu told the reporters, “I fell on the steps after I was pushed. Rabbani came to save me and was pushed from behind. He could have died. I filed a complaint because people must think about it when they force someone to take a selfie.” Police said that it is a case of wrongful restraint and voluntarily causing hurt.
The man who was charged for the incident is Swapnil Phaterpekar, the son of MLA Prakash Phaterpekar. While the whole nation is questioning such lawlessness, police claimed that there is no political angle to this incident. However, it is an evident case of misusing power and privilege.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Hemraj Singh Rajput said, “The incident occurred when Sonu Nigam was leaving the stage after his live performance at the Chembur festival. He was stopped from behind by someone. When two people accompanying the singer tried to move him aside, the man pushed them down the steps. This led to one of them sustaining injuries.”
Shri Sonu Nigam is unhurt. On behalf of the organisation team, we have officially apologised to Sonu sir & his team for the unpleasant incident.
Please donot believe any baseless rumours and those who are trying to politicize the matter. ( 3/3 )

As a member of the Maharashtra State Commission for Women who is also the organizer of the Chembur Music Festival, Suprada Phaterpekar apologized to Sonu Nigam through a tweet. She further requested people not to politicize the incident as the person who asked Sonu for the selfie was none but her own brother.
The footage of Sonu and his aide being harassed is currently a viral post on Twitter and within a night, it has taken over the internet. Sonu’s fans and other sensible Indians are raising their voices against the incident as it is quite preposterous and unacceptable.
