Peso Pluma and Natti Natasha Joined Becky afterward, as she continued to pay tribute to her Mexican roots through music. The guest list doesn’t end here during her Friday set.
Becky G’s debut as a paid Coachella artist was one of the highly anticipated happenings. But no one could ever think that she could turn this activity into something extremely powerful and generous. She had to wait for years to gain the position. Last year, she joined Karol G to sing ‘MAMII’ on the stage. But she didn’t have a solo performance. But it is told that good things come to those who wait. And this year she shined during her exquisite performance.
Being a person with fewer words she initiated her act with “What’s up Coachella?” she asked the sea of the crowd who attended the festival. She was on stage for about 45 minutes and in these 45 minutes, she was unstoppable. She started this act with her reggae-ton banger “Mayores.” “You’re looking mighty beautiful from up here,” she said, after partially performing her first song. She added, “I’m so happy to be here with you guys today.” With these few words and a lot more music, she won over the crowd and made it charming to witness.
With the background set inspired by Luis Barragán she stepped on the stage with a dark denim three-piece with white sneakers to perform back-to-back “Fulanito,” “Cuando Te Besé” and “Bailé Con Mi Ex”. And slowly she started into this new segment where she won the hearts of everyone present in the crowd of the Coachella Set. While she was paying tribute to her Mexican roots, she said, “México en la casa! I’ve been working on my regional project and it’s been so beautiful.” Then she asked her DJ, “I’m proud to be Mexican-American. And I couldn’t come to Coachella and not share the stage. Who else did we invite to the carne asada (cookout)?”
First, Marca MP joined Becky with Tuba in tow. She was in a tejana for this part of her set and they sang “Ya Acabó”. After that Jesús Ortiz Paz of Fuerza Regida took her side to sing Becky’s favorite songs, the cumbia-powered “Bebe Dame” and “Te Quiero Besar”. Next on the list was Peso Pluma, they both performed their track, “Chanel”. Then, Natti Natasha joined her to sing their powerful girl track, “Sin Pijama”. Then she ended her act with Karol G-assisted “MAMIII,” followed by the iconic wailing part of the track “Killing Me Softly”.
