Born in Assam, the great musician grew up surrounded by music and folklore. He later described in several interviews that growing up and his childhood had a massive impact on his music and inspired him to create several songs. The first song this sea of talent ever recorded was at the age of 10. In the first song, he got help and guidance from renowned Indian filmmaker Bishnu Prasad Rabha who later became a prominent Indian political figure along with the famous Indian lyricist and playwright Jyotiprasad Agarwala.
At the age of just 12, the singer and composer created songs for two films, which are Indramalati: Kaxote Kolosi Loi and Biswo Bijoyi Naujawan. In his lifetime he has created numerous musical pieces and poems that are still remarked as one of the greatest artworks of Indian history.
