Ian McDonald, the artist of the rock bands King Crimson and Foreigner died at 75. The performer was suffering from cancer, said his son Max Mc Donald.
Co-founder of the profound rock bands King Crimson and Foreigner, Ian McDonald has died. The 75-year-old artist died due to cancer. His son Max McDonald confirmed that he has been suffering from cancer.
The artist belongs from London. He was the behind of creating the progressing rock band Kind Crimson. He formed the band in 1968 with fellow musicians. This multi-talented artist used to play saxophone, flute, and vibraphone. He has contributed a lot to the band. Their first album of the band is ‘In the Court of the Crimson King’.
Now the album is considered as the new beginning of the rock ‘n’ roll genre. This was the album that influenced classical in rock ‘n’ roll.
The artist indeed left the band after their first album, and later he joined briefly before 1974 when the band completely broke.
After that, he formed another band in 1976. The band was named foreigner. The band was created with the British guitarist Mick Jones and American singer Lou Gramm. This band did an exceptional job and made it to the U.S. Top 10. In this time he gave more hits. Some of their outstanding songs are ‘Cold as Ice’ and ‘Feels Like the First Time’.
Later on, the artist got fired in 1980.
He is an admiration to a lot of artists. ‘ever since I was in the teens when I was totally bowled over by the King Crimson show at the Marquee in London’, said the Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett.
The artist also said, ‘Ian was both a fabulous composer and an amazing multi-instrumentalist’ and ‘I have always been full of admiration for his solo work, as well as everything he did with Crimson and Foreigner, amongst others.
His son Max said about his father, ‘My father was a brilliant, intuitive musician, a gentle soul, and a wonderful dad. He will live on forever through his beautiful music and the love of his fans’.
He also added, ‘He was incredibly brave and never lost his kindness or his sense of humor, even when the going was rough’.
The artist will be immensely missed by his fans. His irreplaceable songs will be remembered forever.
