Music artists become stars with the love and support of their superfans and it is time to give it back. The Weeknd showed gratitude for fans at Spotify’s first-ever Billions Club Live. The streaming platform awarded a handful of devotees with exclusive access to the event.
The live concert helped to address the loyal followers who are the real driving factors of the career of music artists. The Weeknd heartily accepted this challenge and teamed up with Spotify to create a memorable event for the superfans.
An airplane hangar at Santa Monica airport was set to be the concert venue on Tuesday night and The Weeknd’s top listeners were invited there. A lot of people lined up at the venue from early morning in order to find their selves a prime viewing spot.
The Billions Club Live is an extended part of Spotify’s Billions Club that celebrates the artists who have surpassed the mark of a billion streams on the platform. There are many other exclusive members in the club including Billie Eilish, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, and Tyler the Creator.
However, when it comes to The Weeknd, he was an obvious choice for the inaugural event for The Billions Club Live. This artist has surpassed every other artist in the Billion Club regarding the number of songs that crossed the mark. The Weeknd has 24 tracks that received more than 1 billion streams from the fans on the platform. Currently, the most streamed song on the platform is ‘Blinding Lights’ which was released back in 2020.
It is incredible how the hangar was turned into a dark and moody concert venue that goes perfectly with The Weeknd Tracks. Fans went crazy as the singer appeared through the catwalk and got onto the stage which was flanked by fans all around. No backup vocalists were required as the superfans knew the lyrics for each track including the new ones like “Timeless” and “São Paolo”.
The vibe was immaculate at the event as the superfans were chanting along with the singer, sharing love and support through every breath. The Weeknd took a moment to acknowledge and said, “What I love about the Billions Club is that everybody knows these songs.”
The Weeknd’s set list for the event included “Blinding Lights,” “Starboy,” “Can’t Feel My Face,” Save Your Tears”, “I Feel It Coming”, “The Hills,” and “Earned It.” With mutual support and appreciation, the singer shouted, “I f***ing love you!” before leaving the stage.
