Beyoncé was flawless when she revealed her first pregnancy during the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards while performing ‘Love On Top’. The secret to her captivating outfit and that iconic moment was help from her mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson.
The fashion designer and businesswoman who is now 67, took to Instagram to post a clip of the performance along with a lengthy caption that gave audiences a sneak peek into the style dilemma that kept the mother-daughter duo busy before Beyoncé took the stage.
Lawson wrote in the post, “Well this was a stressful night, at least it began that way!!! It wound up turning into a beautiful night but two hours before the performance we realized that the pants that I had gotten made were too tight and uncomfortable; the panel that I had put in them was not stretchy enough.”
She also shared in the post that she had to go shopping to handle the dress situation. “Two hours before the performance I was at A Pea in the Pod Maternity shop.” She was lucky enough to get a stretchy panel out of a pair of maternity pants and then attached the same to the custom pair that the artist was to wear for her stage performance.
The designer also shared, “Thank God it worked. And when she opened that jacket and showed her stomach it was the biggest relief ever for myself [and stylists] Ty Hunter and Tim White.”
The proud mother concluded her post by saying, “It was the best feeling in the world to her show the whole world that tummy” with a couple of heart emojis.

The audience was quick to respond with one saying that it is a great story to share with the fans. Someone else wrote that Mama Tina is always keeping the fans updated and intrigued with the various BTS clips that she shares.
She also revealed earlier that Beyoncé struggled during the shooting of the ‘Love On Top’ video as she was pregnant and sick at that time. Fans were one step ahead praising their favorite artist reminding everyone that Beyoncé truly is the queen.
Her mother is famously known to design many of her iconic outfits including her wedding dress. She got married to Jay Z in 2008. However, fans only got to see the dress in the 2011 video for ‘I was Here’. It proves that mothers are always behind their daughter’s back through thick and thin.
