The government of Maharashtra has announced on Tuesday, that the 2024 Gana Samrajni Lata Mangeshkar Award to the doyen Anuradha Paudwal for her unforgettable contribution in the field of Bhajan and classical music. The award is named after the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar for individuals who have dedicated their lives and made impactful and significant contributions to the field of music. Along with these, other various awards have been announced by Cultural Affair Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar which includes Navtvarya Prabhakar Panashikar Theatre Lifetime Achievement Award, Sangeetcharya Annasaheb Kirloskar Sangeet Rangbhumi Lifetime Achievement Award, Bharat Ranta Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Classical Music Lifetime Achievement Award, Gyanoba Tukaram Award, Tamasha Empress Withabai Narayangaonkar Lifetime Achievement Award.
After receiving the award, the singer in an interview has expressed her joy and satisfaction, saying, ‘It is a great pleasure to receive the award in the name of people who have been praised and worshipped for years. I am very happy to receive the award in the name of Lata Mangeshkar. This is a different kind of talent. This award is being given by the state government. It is a matter of great happiness.’ With this, she added, ‘It’s such a big honor. I have always idolized Lata Mangeshkar so it’s a huge blessing. When you get an award from home i.e. Maharashtra, it has a charm of its own. You feel special. I’m grateful to the Maharashtra Government. God is kind.’ When she was asked if she got the award a little too late, she answered, ‘It is very late’ With a satisfaction in her eyes she added, ’There is a time for everything.’
After the news of the announcement not just Anuradha Paudwal has expressed her joy but eminent personalities of the industry such as singer Saavni Ravindra said in an interview, ‘Anuradha Paudwal is a big name in the music world… she is a great personality… I have grown up listening to her songs. There is a lot to learn from her songs… so we are definitely very happy with the state government.’ Besides this, the Cultural Affairs Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar has announced that Aarti Anklekar-Tikekear will be honored by the Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Shastriya Sangeet Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar 2024 for the contribution of the artists who have dedicated their whole life to the field of classical music and served the field with unwavering determination. The Natvarya Prabhakar Panshikar Rangmanch Lifetime Achievement Award 2024 has been announced to honor Prakash Buddhisagar who made his mark in the Marathi theatre.

The ministry has also announced to give the Sangeetacharya Annasaheb Kirloskar Sangeet Rangbhoomi Lifetime Achievement Award 2024 to Shubhada Dadarkar due to her special contribution to the field of music theatre. The Gyanoba Tukaram Award 2024 will be given to Sanjayji Maharaj Pachpore for his writings on saint literature and humanitarian work dedicated to saints.
