Churn out the flavors of Spanish music with Selena Gomez’s latest album ‘Revelación’

Get through the latest seven-track album ‘Revelación’ by none other than Selena Gomez. It is her first Spanish EP that is featured by Rauw, Myke, and DJ Snake.

Perhaps Selena Gomez is not the only one who thought of learning a new language in the time of quarantine, but she is the only artist who made it even fruitful by making Spanish tracks and collaborating with other artists for her latest project. Being an iconic Mexican-American pop singer, Selena has previously performed in some Spanish projects like, ‘Más’ and her namesake artist’s famous track ‘Bidi Bidi Bom Bom’. However, she has come up with full potential with her first official Spanish album Revelación. The album consists of seven chartbusting tracks, namely ‘De Una Vez’, ‘Buscando Amor’, ‘Baila Conmigo (with Rauw Alejandro)’, ‘Dámelo To’ (feat. Myke Towers)’, ‘Vicio’, ‘Adiós’ and ‘Selfish Love (with DJ Snake). All of these tracks have gathered a lot of attention from the listeners with their exotic musical arrangement and Selena’s amazing hold of the language.

Revelación

‘Revelación’ follows and provides the same aura and spirit that can be found in the previous releases by this enigmatic 28-year-old pop singer. However, this latest album seems to be generating more buzzes than her previous releases. Selena Gomez herself admitted that her latest album sounds better in Spanish than English. The track ‘De Una Vez’ carries the reminiscence of her breakup ballads as the track deals with the subject matter of gaining strength after a heart-wrenching breakup. The lyrics go like “Yo me fui para que no se te olvide/Que a una muerte como tú se revive,” which closely means that “I left so that you don’t forget/That after a death like yours, I can live again.” Even though the track provides a similar central theme to before, the complex Spanish lyrics represent the artist’s vocal dexterity and hold accent by keeping her melody and prolific musicianship intact.

A similar approach can be found in the other tracks like ‘Dámelo To’ and ‘Baila Conmigo’ which are featured by Myke Towers and Rauw Alejandro respectively. Both of the artists have complemented Selena’s singing style with an intoxicating tone and seductive chorus. ‘Selfish Love’ is the only track from the EP that includes a bilingual approach along with DJ Snake and some sensuous sax influences. Previously, Selena and DJ Snake have paired up for their platinum hit track and international smash ‘Taki Taki’. ‘Revelación’ is Selena’s bold attempt to captivate the sound and language which is quite inauthentic to her. However, her prolific musicianship is making the album one of the greatest hits in the modern Era.
