Katy Perry’s ‘Women’s World’ album had been gaining quite a bit of criticism and side eyes from the listeners but that is about to change with ‘I’m His He’s Mine’.
Katy Perry, when first released her track ‘Women’s World’ along with the video, the song did created a buzz among her fans and people worldwide but not in a good way. The song was heavily criticized due to its failed attempts of showing the power of women in this patriarchal world. The video showed the iconic singer dressed up as Rosie the Riveter using power tools and drinking whiskey. The video had attempted to showcase that girls can have it all even going to the extent of showing Katy Perry and her backup dancers using the urinals like the guys but later it seemed like the creator and the director had gone through so much trouble for nothing.
The images of Katy Perry turning into a cyborg who is gorgeous and escaping into a post-apocalyptic world made very little sense to the audience and the end scene where a young girl is seen dancing for a TikTok video with a ring light that is shaped to give the symbol of man is snatched by the singer and she takes off in a helicopter. The young girl screams to ask who she was and the singer yells back that she was Katy Perry in slow motion. This last yell was nothing compared to her roar in ‘Roar’ which was enough to give the listeners goosebumps.
But the scene might be changing for Katy Perry now, with the release of her new track ‘I’m His, He’s Mine’ which has a very interesting and fun video to go along with the song. The song features Doechii and it tells the story of a woman being passionate about her love interest. The lyrics are straightforward and clearly depict the narrative of women that she can be every and anything her partner might, need or want. The beginning of the song will shock the audience with Perry’s deep voice which is mind-blowing to hear along with the groovy and bass-heavy background music. The new track is a sampling of a very popular 90s song called Gypsy Women by Crystal Waters.
Visually the track is bound to give you a head rush with the opening scene showing the singer and her love interest to be falling through the air while kissing and cuddling with each other, in the blink of an eye the singer is seen doing splits on the hood of a car while it is going of high speed. The transition shots are something to look out for and there is something for the Marvel fans to relate to as she pulls stunts that refer to Spiderman.
