For those who feel that this generation is overall silly love songs, Paul McCartney humbly denies agreeing and reminds us of the various reasons to have said so with his latest EP ‘Love’. The former Beatles rock star hasn’t changed his tune ever since the split of the band when he stepped out as a solo artist to form Wings with his wife. Coming forward to 2020, the pandemic lockdown has allowed the musician to craft a new album made entirely during the free span, being recorded at the premises of his home. The six tracks EP comprises of songs like ‘Silly Love Songs- Remastered 2014- Wings’, ‘Waterfalls- Remastered 211’, ‘Love Is Strange- Remastered 2018- Wings’, and ‘My Love- 2018 Remaster- Wings’, where all of them have been built over guitar or piano music accompaniments and are dubbed with drum elements and bass guitar.
The iconic musician has created the EP for himself rather than for anybody else and is perhaps his best creations in all these years. The brilliant ex-Beatle artist after being lost for a long time has now returned with his age-old wisdom and has let his melodic gift scatter magic on the latest EP. Emotions and refined instincts form the base of this EP where his ideas have been allowed to flow out freely amidst flashing guitar riffs and other magnetic pop elements. The songs are a soothing compilation of life, love, and the upcoming days. His melodic spirit is as refreshing as the singer ponders about the ways love is necessary for one’s life. The fluttering of low-fi instrumentals and McCartney’s vocals makes for a haunting combination and is the perfect antidote to a pain-filled heart. The EP ‘Love’ might sound cheesy at times but its light-hearted melodies and his voice would keep anyone invested throughout. There’s a lot of feelings in-store, especially themes about love.
