Rapper and songwriter Myke Towers is currently soaring high with the release of his new album Lyke Mike that is on its way to captivating the global audience stream.
Michael Torres who goes by the stage name Myke Towers is creating widespread engagement with the release of his most personal projects to date. Brimming his heart out into a creative stream through the pandemic, the artist came up with his third studio album called Lyke Mike which came out on Friday, April 23. The album was distributed by One World International, Warner Records, and Warner Music Latina. His previous work includes the highly appreciated set called Easy Money Baby which went on to debut at No. 1 in the Billboard Top Latin Albums. This album, however, is a shift from his conventional Latin R&B and reggaeton styles for which he is known but involves the scopes of drill, hip hop, and trap in its mellifluous course. In an interview with Billboard, he shared that he is still on a quest to find the middle point of his sound. The album consists of 23 captivating tracks that hit hard across all those who have a liking for hip hop.
In the new album, the artist collaborates with various musicians such as Sahir, Jon Z, Miky Woods, and Ñengo Flow. The album is a tribute to his liking for basketball. It draws a lot of inspiration from one of his biggest idols in the game, Michael Jordan. According to him, Michael is the one who motivated him to accomplish various feats in his life. The inspiration is not just constricted to music but plays a key role in the overall formulation of his life and personality. Although Michael has no connection with music whatsoever, his optimism and positive attitude have always influenced him to accomplish the bigger things in life. He is a big supporter of the sportsman and Lyke Mike stands as symbolic gratitude.
According to the artist, the album is also for his fans who supported him during his initial struggling days in the industry. These were the people who were constantly in touch with his career and motivated him to expand his creative circle. He says that his rapping skills came from the underground scene and over the years, he improved his skills that led to the release of the album. The project is very personal and the album cover displays the artist in front of his childhood home in Puerto Rico. His stories of struggles can be heard in the songs ‘Maldita Envidia’, ‘Cuando Me Ven’, ‘Roncarme’, ‘Joven Leyenda’, and ‘Niveles’ among others.
The album is a lyrical extravaganza that takes the audience on a journey of contemplation as well as recreation. The opening song of the album, ‘Mirenme Ahora’ is about the artist’s self-belief that always aimed at reaching the top. Each song is a representation of the various stanzas of Myke Towers’ life depicting a series of undulations that he went through to reach where he is now. Electronically modulated with an honest purview in terms of thematic goals, the album emerges as one of the best to have come out this year. Listen to the album on Spotify right now.
