Late rapper Pop Smoke’s record ‘AP’ is now released. The track has been feature4d in the Eddie Huang-directed movie Boogie and is all set to appear in the upcoming film. The track is supposedly the first new song since the release of his deluxe edition of the album Shoot for The Stars Aim For The Moon being released last summer, featuring 15 unreleased tracks.
Reports have it, that Pop Smoke’s song has already topped this week’s new music poll. In his signature drill style, the rapper has dropped the intimidating anthem for his Pop’s role, Monk, who is the basketball rival of protagonist Boogie.
His acting debut goes quite hitting in the film and so does the soundtrack. The essence of the music video ‘AP’ has been rightly captured as the artist raps about being a killer who has bust a check in his Nikes as he runs the court against Taylor Takahashi, the leading actor, who plays the role of Alfred Boogie Chin in the movie Boogie.
At the starting of the studio, Boogie and Monk could be seen struggling shoulder to shoulder under the Brooklyn Bridge, both of them setting the mood for the conflict to come up from the director. But the behind-the-scenes clips get the viewer tagged with the whole filming process and also allow them to see Smoke evolve and grow into his first-ever acting position.
Pop Smoke’s hitting signature beat drops in just after the producer plays ‘Ayy turn it up in the headphones’ that gets the listeners all hyped right from the beginning. His amazing flow stays at par with the beat in the chorus and quickly transforms to a fast-paced quick-fired verse delivery with the lyrics ‘get to sprayin’. Overall the song is a fine listen and it’s his uniqueness that makes the whole video so catchy and trendy during an era when Brooklyn drill sound is revolutionizing the hip-hop landscape.
The song flows seamlessly with the video, narrating and detailing the journey of Smoke from a rapper to an actor. Pop Smoke is a well-known, established icon and with the release of the latest music video, his popularity and influence only continues to grow and expand. Watch the full scene on YouTube now.
